Combine harvesters: make the configuration clear before valuation

A combine valuation needs the machine's actual configuration, not the fullest specification once offered for that model. Identify the machine, show what is fitted now and make the included harvesting equipment explicit.
Begin with the plate, serial number and model designation. Collect available build or dealer records, then compare them with the current machine. Later alterations or exchanged equipment should have their own entry rather than disappearing into a general model description.
Separate three kinds of information
Manufacturer specification describes a model or documented build. Keep the relevant source and revision. A brochure showing several options does not prove that every option is fitted.
Current fitted configuration describes this combine. Record what is physically present and the evidence used to identify it. Ask an appropriate provider to resolve unclear systems or modifications.
Observed readings and condition describe what someone saw on a stated date. Keep photographs, report references and the limits of any demonstration.
This separation makes the pack more useful than a long specification assembled from several similar machines.
Give counters their proper labels
Photograph each relevant displayed counter with its label. Record the reading, date and what the manufacturer or machine records say it measures. Do not combine differently labelled counters into a single "hours" figure.
If a display or controller has been replaced, add the corresponding record. Where the history is unknown, say so. A current screen reading should not become a guaranteed lifetime total through repeated copying.
Use this information-pack index:
| Part of the pack | Contents |
|---|---|
| Identity | Plate, serial number and asset reference |
| Configuration | Build information, fitted options and documented changes |
| Counters | Labelled photographs, dates and replacement history |
| Service | Work dates, machine references and actual scope |
| Condition | Known faults, reports and recent observations |
| Harvesting equipment | Header identities, included accessories and exclusions |
| Release | Last planned use, location and collection constraints |
Price the package that will be supplied
List each header and any trailer separately before deciding whether they belong in one lot. The header and trailer lotting guide provides a compatibility map and package comparison.
Do the same for guidance hardware. A display in the cab may involve private data, account links or services that need separate agreement. Follow the precision farming screen handover guide before promising that everything visible on a powered screen transfers.
Do not include loose spare parts simply because they are stored nearby. Identify their association or describe them separately as unconfirmed items.
Record storage and release honestly
If the combine has not worked recently, use the stored machinery timeline to explain when it last operated and what is known since. Avoid arranging a demonstration before the appropriate condition and safety questions have been addressed.
HSE's machinery hazard guidance identifies hazards around combines, including moving mechanisms, elevated access and supported headers. Photographs for valuation should come from safe, authorised access; the sale pack is not a reason to enter guarded areas.
If the machine is still needed, make the seasonal release plan part of the brief. The expected last use and the date it can actually leave may differ.
Send the organised pack to UK Auction Group for a valuation. State any unresolved configuration question and whether the proposal includes the headers, trailers and technology. That lets the discussion concern the real sale package rather than an assumed specification.
